Mayor’s show of devotion:

In 1930, during the Mahotsav of the entry of the Math and establishment of Sri Vigraha in the Gaudiya Math in Calcutta, innumerable devotees of all kinds, from the king to the beggar, and among them prominent sages, came. The then Mayor of Calcutta, Mr Subhas Chandra Bose, attended the Mahotsav and paid due reverence to the opening ceremony of the spiritual service rendered by the Lord and His loyal servants under the Lordship of the Mayor.

১৯৩০ সালে কলিকাতা গৌড়ীয় মঠে মঠপ্রবেশ ও শ্রীবিগ্রহ-প্রতিষ্ঠা-মহা-মহোৎসবকালে রাজাধিরাজ হইতে ভিখারী পর্যন্ত সর্বাবস্থার সর্ব্ববিধ অগণিত ভক্ত, এমন কি, তন্মধ্যে বিশিষ্ট বিশিষ্ট মহোদয়গণেরও আগমন ঘটিয়াছিল। কলিকাতার তৎকালীন মেয়র শ্রীযুক্ত সুভাষচন্দ্র বসু মহোদয় এই মহোৎসবে যোগদান করিয়াছিলেন এবং শ্রীভগবানের অহৈতুকীকৃপায়, ও বাহ্যদৃষ্টিতে মেয়র মহোদয়ের শাসনাধীনতার মধ্যে প্রকটিত শ্রী ভগবানের ও তদীয় একনিষ্ঠ সেবকগণের পারমার্থিক সেবাসদনের উদ্বোধন উৎসবে যথোচিত ভক্তিশ্রদ্ধা জ্ঞাপন করিয়া ছিলেন।]]
