79th appearance day of Srila Goswamipad

The 79th auspicious appearance tithi of Srila Bhakti Suhrit Parivrajaka Goswami Maharaja, the former Acharya of Gaudiya Mission, on February 15, 2026, Sunday.

The Lord’s form as a devotee is His hidden form. He is both the worshipable Lord and the devotee Lord. Although He is the Lord, when He wants to teach service, He takes the form of a devotee. The form of a devotee is the Lord’s dear form. The Lord accepts service and worship as the object of service. And when He takes the form of a servant, He Himself serves and teaches others to serve. Just as the Lord plays His pastimes in the mortal world like a mortal human being, similarly, His devotees also teach service as mortal humans.

The Lord’s incarnations or devotee incarnations can be in any family, such as Hanuman in the animal family, Garuda in the bird family, and Haridas Thakur in the Muslim family. Therefore, if they are called animals, birds, or Muslims, it is a great offense. A devotee, regardless of his family, is eternal, pure, transcendental, and non-material. If one has envy, malice, or hatred towards him, he will go to hell. The glory of a devotee is infinite and unfathomable. Even by glorifying a devotee, one’s soul becomes pure, and one attains devotion.

In the Medinipur district of West Bengal, there is a village called “Khagda”. This village has many middle-class families and wealthy, educated people. Many Vaishnavas from the Shyamananda Vaishnava family live in this town. Many disciples of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja, the founder of Gaudiya Math, live in this village. The village is a hub of spiritual activities, with regular Nama Kirtana, Bhagavatam recitation, and Krishna Lila performances.

About a mile and a half away from this village, in Chiruulia, is the Sri Bhagavat Janananda Math. In 1926, on April 2nd, Jagadguru Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja visited this math on the occasion of the second annual disappearance festival of Bhagavat Janananda Prabhu (Bhagavan Charan Paharji Mahashaya). He was accompanied by many notable devotees, including Tridandi Swami Bhaktihrit “Bon” Maharaja, Sripad Ananta Vasudeva Parividyabhushana, Sripad Sundarananda Vidyavinoda, Sripad Pranavananda Das Brahmachari, Sripad Kunja Bihari Vidyabhushana (Bhakti Vilas Tirtha Maharaja), Sripad Mahajan Dasadhikari, and Sripad Krishna Das Brahmachari. They were welcomed by the local zamindar, Srijut Jatindra Mohan Paharji, and other dignitaries, with a gathering of about three thousand people.
