Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur, the Vyasa of Sri Chaitanya’s pastimes, has addressed his master Sri Nityananda with many names, such as Sri Nityananda Avadhuta, Sri Nityananda Chandra, Nityananda Prabhu, Nityananda Mahamaheshwara, Nityananda Simha, Nityananda Mahamalla, Avadhuta Chandra, Avadhuta Raya, and Sri Chaitanyachandra’s dear deity.
Sri Gaurasundara is very merciful, but he never shows mercy to those who are not taken by Sri Nityananda. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur has said, “Cross the ocean of material existence and dive into the ocean of devotion. Whoever wants to dive, let him worship Nitai Chanda.”
